1) Joliet is the county seat of Will County, Illinois, situated south west of Chicago on the leading edge of the metropolitan area.

Will County experienced a 36% population increase between 2000 and 2015, from 502,295 to 684,796. The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) projects that Will County’s population will exceed 1.175 million by the year 2040, exceeding Du Page County projection of 1.104 million.
